pink mountaintops - outside love.

a friend of mine sent me the new PINK MOUNTAINTOPS album the other day, and i've been listening like crazy. besides the fact that i really love their music, i have a soft spot for these guys, one of them used to be my roommate (actually, it's been so long now i don't even know what the current line up is, it seems always ever changing) and when the band first came out, i remember writing an 800 word article about them that we turned into a front cover feature. barely a few months after that article issue came out, they were getting mad hype and touring around the world. that's what i miss about vancouver! people you know start bands, and they actually do well. maybe it's something in the water.

(from the jagjaguwar site)
"The ten songs on "Outside Love" are about or influenced by weddings in Montreal, winter, Pink Floyd's The Final Cut, Christmas albums, that one Exile song and that one Echo and the Bunnymen song, the Bermuda Triangle, being depressed in the sunshine, people who haven't made out yet but will in the future, The Everly Brothers, clowns in the ceilings, and bedrooms where skinheads used to live.

generally i'm a fan of buying records and supporting musicians, but living in china isn't very conducive to that. so if you live in china and you're very interested in the album, email me and i will totally make your day. ok? ok.

That label description's hilarious; I can't believe they actually mentioned that Exile song ["I want to Kiss you All Over"]! At this year's Scratch Christmas party Josh, Keith, Steve, and I played that record over and over again, before watching Exile live cuts.
